SIMPLE
STEPS How
to start a Kids for Christ Before School Bible Club
CONSIDER THE TIME:
You will want to be sure you can give the time to being involved in a club. The clubs are designed to take up very little time.
Time investment is usually one hour or less per week Time actually on site at the school is 30-45 min. one morning per week.
Normally finished before schools starts normally that is close to or at 8 am. (Depends upon school start time.)
The average is meetings per year is 25 - 30..
There will be a few additional days at the beginning of the year to organize and get ready with t-shirts, Bibles, object lesson orders & planning.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
You can expect a great response. It may start small but students will quickly spread the word about the meetings and there will be growth. The clubs experience phenomenal participation, averaging 60-75% of the student body enrollment. It is all completely Voluntary! They want to come. It's normal for students to begin asking about Kids for Christ club as soon as school starts. Some administrators like to settle in to the routines and get the school year underway and sailing smoothly before starting Club meetings of any sort.
One School had 260 kids in the weekly program. Another school had an pre-existing Christian club and its leaders switched to Kids for Christ format in Dec. 2013 had 150 students sign up out of 487 in the 1st 6 weeks. A small rural school began a new club, and had 60 students of 280 total Student body enrollment in 6 weeks. and a second rural school with just 88 Pre-K through 8th grade had 40 students enrolled in the K-5th grade program. 40% of the kids in one school do not attend church and enjoy the teaching they receive in the Club. You can expect to have great response. Student leaders will develop leadership skills that will be a help to them in their future. Most schools swell to over 100 students quickly.
Step 1 PRAY!!
Step 2 Contact School Administrator/Principal
Step 3 Get Set Up
Step 4 FULL LAUNCH
The 1st start up meeting for the full K-5th will just be a orientation meeting. You will welcome them. Tell them what they can expect when being part of Kids for Christ. You will tell them how they can join. Give them the Permission slips and T-Shirt order forms to take home. Give them a welcome gift. There are more detailed instructions in the handbook.
You will want to know how to manage a group of students. The How To Start a Club Handbook download will give you meeting structures that will help you. You can recruit help to do the orientation meetings with you. You may invite people as guests to come to share during meetings. They may use various visual methods and art forms like puppetry and object lessons.
You will want to practice lessons and can invite other 5th grade students to take turns leading the lessons. This and more is available in the How To Start a Club Handbook download.
